About this site
Where the data comes from
13,850 of the sales here, everything up to October 2, 2026 bar a few, were compiled by the Displate community in a shared spreadsheet, which has logged completed eBay sales since February 2021 — a person reading listings and identifying each plate by hand. Credit for that work belongs to its maintainers, and none of it could be reconstructed today: eBay only exposes sold listings for about 90 days, so those early years exist because somebody wrote them down at the time.
PlateTracker is not affiliated with that project and has no involvement in it. This note records where the data came from, which seems worth stating plainly on a site whose entire value is the data.
The sheet is refreshed weekly. This site currently reflects 13,927 sales across 429 editions, last pulled on October 18, 2026.
A new edition can come out before the sheet logs it. Those are added from Displate’s own limited-edition listing - name, run size, release date and price - and marked as such on their page, until the sheet catches up and its entry takes over.
Recent sales are also read from eBay’s sold listings directly. Most of those link to a snapshot of the listing page, taken after the sale while eBay still showed it. A sale gets one only when the page shows eBay’s note that the listing sold and who sold it; eBay strips old listings within a few months, and a page that no longer shows the sale is not offered as evidence of it. The price in a snapshot is the listing’s when the picture was taken - an accepted offer, or a seller who has since changed the price, can put it some way from what the buyer paid, which is the price shown here.
Where that price came from Terapeak - eBay’s own sales research, which records what a listing actually sold for - the sale may also link to a picture of Terapeak’s record of it, showing one copy sold, at that price, on that day. Terapeak ties a sale to its listing for only ninety days, so these are taken as sales come in, and only where Terapeak shows a single sale at the price recorded here.
Copies left at Displate
For editions Displate is still selling, the site also follows how many copies are left. Displate publishes that count in its public list of limited editions, and it is read from there every 6 hours - nothing is added to a cart and no account is used. Each edition’s page charts the count from the first check that saw it until its sale closes, and keeps the chart afterwards, so how quickly a plate sold out stays on record once it reaches eBay.
The record starts on Sep 29. Displate shows the count as it stands and nothing earlier, so editions that were already on sale that day begin partway through, and those weeks cannot be filled in. The stock is checked on its own schedule, separate from the weekly sales update, and each page says when it was last read.
“On pace to sell out”
An edition gets this badge when the copies it has sold recently, counted cautiously, would clear the copies left before its sale closes. Cautiously means the pace is a low estimate rather than an average: sales arrive in bursts, so a pace built on a handful of sales is discounted heavily, the slower of the last three and last seven days is used, and early in a sale only three quarters of it counts, because sales are still slowing after the launch. It never looks more than two weeks ahead.
The badge appears only after three days of sale and two days of unbroken checks, when at least a dozen copies have sold in the last three days, and after the projection has held at every check for a full day. It goes away at the first check where it no longer holds. No badge does not mean an edition won’t sell out: it can’t appear in a sale’s first six days or our first three days of watching, and editions that sell slowly, or sell out at launch, never get it.
The rule was tested against how past editions actually sold, using 84 copies of Displate’s list saved by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine between August 2024 and September 2026 - 189 editions, of which 48 are known to have sold out and 26 to have closed with copies unsold. A plain projection, recent sales times days left, would have called 11 of those unsold editions. This one called none - at the price of staying silent on most of the editions that did sell out, which is the trade it is built to make. It is a projection, not a promise, and it will be checked again once more editions have closed.
How the numbers work
Every price is what the buyer paid for the plate. Shipping is never folded in. A sale made in another currency is shown in dollars, converted on the day it sold, with the amount in the buyer’s currency beside it where it is known.
Last sale, and the median beneath it
The headline is the last recorded sale, dated: what the market last said, with no arithmetic in the way. Beneath it is the median of the last 5 sales, or of all of them if there are fewer, so one odd sale - a no-reserve auction, a lone high bid - never stands alone. A median rather than an average, so one such sale cannot drag it; five sales rather than the last ninety days, because many plates trade only a few times a year and a fixed window would often be empty.
Counting sales means those five can reach a long way back, so the page says when they do: 5 sales over 17 months is a thin market, where the median is a guide at best. A last sale over a year old is shown in grey with a note, because it is the last price known, not a going rate.
Return vs retail
The median of the last five sales against what Displate charged at release: a plate that retailed at $139 and recently sells around $278 shows +100%. The median, not the last sale, so one odd sale cannot move a plate up or down the ranking. It leaves out shipping and eBay’s fees, so it is a measure of demand, not of profit.
Editions whose price is solid enough are ranked by it, highest first - 196 of them at the last refresh, shown as #9 of 196. Solid enough means at least three sales, one of them within the last year, and a five-sale median whose sales fall within a year. The rest still show their percentage, in grey and unranked: a return built on one sale, or on a price nobody has paid since 2024, is not one to compare against the others.
Last 5 vs 5 before
The median of the last five sales against the median of the five before them, for editions with at least ten. It says which way the price has moved, not where it is going, and is left uncoloured for that reason.
And the rest
- Every recorded sale gives the count, median and range across every sale of the edition. They are context, not a price: a plate that climbed from $250 to $500 has a lifetime median it has not sold at in a year. Where the highest sale stands more than a quarter above the next, the page says it is one sale.
- Shipping quote is what eBay showed for delivery when the sale was recorded - for this site’s own eBay captures, a quote to a US address. It is not necessarily what this buyer paid, so it is listed beside the price and never added to it.
- ×3 beside a price means the spreadsheet records three sales that day at the same price and shipping - usually several copies sold from one listing. Each counts as its own sale here, as it does there. Auctions are never grouped: an auction sells one copy.
- Auction and fixed price sales are told apart on the chart, because auction results are usually the noisier of the two.
What this is not
These are historical eBay sales, not appraisals or price guidance. Sample sizes are small - many editions have only a handful of recorded sales, and a single unusual listing can move an average a long way. Sales that happened outside eBay, or that the maintainers did not capture, are not represented here.
This site is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Displate or eBay.
Feedback
Ideas for the site, a sale that looks wrong, a plate that is missing: send feedback. It goes straight to the person who runs PlateTracker, and every message is read. Every plate’s page also has a Report it link that says which plate you mean.

These are recomputed from the raw rows rather than copied from the sheet's summary tab. They also count sales from our own eBay captures and any edition added from Displate before the sheet logs it, so they can run slightly ahead of that tab.
